After waiting almost a year, finally got the slightly used Nikon D90 with 18-105mm lens today.

Personally i do not like 18-105mm for its high barrel distortion. 16-85mm can be an ideal lens, but cost Rs.50,000+ :(

Nikon has just announced D90 :) its 12MP, has 3″ LCD, Livew View, Dust Cleaning, 4.5FPS and 720p/24 Video  !!

This will probably be my next buy :) Hope to see some good reviews very soon!

AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR will probably be my 2nd buy if it does not come kitted :)

Nikon being quite expensive at Rs.48000 and Sigma at Rs.32000, I ended up with Nikon 55-200mm VR @ Rs.18000.

I’ll probably be spending the saved money on Nikon 50mm f/1.8 and the D80 successor when it comes out! and I will hopefully be writing a short review of 55-200mm VR very soon :)

The reasons i went with 55-200mm are:

  1. Nikon 18-200mm definitely has a convenience of not changing lenses for shot to shot, but it has some dark corners at 18mm. What if I don’t like that too much?
  2. Sigma is bit cheap but has the same issues, and it is slow in low light (f/6.3 at 200mm).
  3. There is no resale value for such stuff in Pakistan.
  4. 55-200mm VR is still an excellent lens, and if i really hate the inconvenience of changing lens at the end, i can sell it without losing too much!

And, changing lens doesn’t take more than 10 seconds :)

Also bought SB-400 external flash, a tripod, UV Filter and carrying case with it :)
